Biography

Figurative painter

Sandra was born in Burriana, Spain, and is a 27-year-old aspiring artist who decided to get serious about painting only four years ago. She’s always been fascinated by things that require creativity, skill and originality.

As an introvert, Sandra has always felt the need to find a way to express herself, communicate and give expression to her inner thoughts. This opportunity initially presented itself to her through filmmaking. With the firm support of her parents and sister, she began studying to be a film director in Barcelona. During this time she participated in some short films, wrote some stories and even starred in one of these amateur films. She also took a special course in cinematography that helped her develop a better understanding of light, but she soon realized that this wasn’t a world in which she really fit.

Sandra had a keen interest in learning to draw and paint as a teenager, but what really attracted her to painting was the intimacy of the process. She soon discovered that she didn’t need large teams or long periods of time to bring her ideas to life. It was much more immediate and pure, a medium that really captured the essence and emotion of a concept she wanted to convey.

She began experimenting with acrylics and took a few classes in watercolor and oil painting. She then continued her exploration as a self-taught artist, focusing mainly on realistic figurative oil paintings.
Since then, her work has been exhibited in various collective exhibitions and a solo exhibition where she presented her first series of paintings. Some of these paintings won awards in two prestigious national painting competitions, which gave the young artist a great boost of confidence.

She’s currently working on three easels simultaneously in her home studio, with the invaluable help of her little poodle Fantine.
